From our Directors

Dear Friends, Allies, and Partners,

It is our honor to welcome you to the National Black Gay Men’s Advocacy Coalition (NBGMAC) at this pivotal moment in our history.

Since our founding in 2006, NBGMAC has stood as a powerful voice for the health, dignity, and equity of Black gay men across the United States. Today, our mission is more urgent than ever. The social, political, and health landscapes are shifting rapidly — and in too many places, our lives, our voices, and our health are still undervalued.

That is why we are moving boldly into a new chapter of advocacy, research, and leadership development.

  • We are shaping policy so that it reflects the lived realities of Black gay men and delivers the resources we deserve.

  • We are leading research that centers on our experiences and drives evidence-based solutions to the disparities we face.

  • We are developing leaders within our community who can carry this work forward for generations.

This year, we are proud to launch “Value Our Lives” — a national campaign to affirm our worth, demand equitable investment in our health, and ensure Black gay men are present and heard at every decision‑making table. This is not simply a campaign; it is a movement for justice and survival.

We invite you to stand with us. Engage with our work. Share your story. Support our campaigns. Whether you are a policymaker, a community leader, a healthcare provider, or an ally, your partnership is critical to advancing health equity and justice for Black gay men.

Together, we will not only confront the inequities we face — we will build systems where every Black gay man has the opportunity to thrive.

With resolve and gratitude,

Executive Co-Chair: Christopher Chauncey Watson, PhD, MHS

Founding Co-Chair: Ernest Hopkins
